Men’s Basketball Hosts Northland Wednesday

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team is back at the Reif Gymnasium on Wednesday to face Northland College in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-CSS is coming off a 17-point road loss at Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday.
-Saturday's loss marked the second time this season CSS has allowed at least 50 points in both halves of a game.
-Sophomore Nick Carlson (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge HS) had 29 points on Saturday in Mankato and is averaging 27.0 points per game in the last two games.
-The Saints currently have five players averaging in double-figures in scoring; CSS has not finished a season with five players averaging in double-figures in scoring since the 1996-97 season.
-First-year guard Cade Goggleye (Nett Lake, Minn./North Woods HS) is tied for the conference lead and ranks 31st nationally with a 2.5 assist-to-turnover ratio.
-With five conference games remaining, the Saints are in fourth place in the UMAC, three games behind the top three teams and two games ahead of Crown College in fifth.
 
What You Need to Know about Northland:
Record: 5-15, 2-9 UMAC
-The LumberJacks snapped a seven-game losing streak with a buzzer-beating win at Martin Luther College on Saturday.
-Both of Northland's conference wins this season have been on the road.
-Northland leads the conference by limiting opponents to just 31.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
-However, the LumberJacks shoot a league-worst 40.3 percent from the field, while allowing opponents to shoot 48 percent from the field.
-They are also out-rebounded by an average margin of 9.1 rebounds per game.
-Benny Larry Jr. leads the team, averaging 12.5 points per game.
-Harley Shear has a team-high 5.4 rebounds per game.

Series History: The Saints have won three straight over the LumberJacks, including a 19-point win in mid-January in Ashland … CSS has lost at home to Northland just once in the last decade and that was just two years ago.
