Greta Nundahl (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) scored in the third period as the St. Scholastica women's hockey team had to settle for a 1-1 tie against Marian University (Wis.) on Friday in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) action.
How it Happened
The Saints were outshot 18-14 through the first two periods, but woke up in the third period and outshot the Sabres 26-3.
Marian got on the board first in the second period with a power-play goal with over six minutes remaining. Then seven minutes into the third period, Nundahl had the equalizing goal with an assist from
Lauryn Hull (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly HS). CSS would have three power-plays the rest of the third period, but the game remained tied at 1-1 after regulation.
The Saints committed a penalty one minute into overtime, but the Sabres could do nothing with it as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Goaltending
Lori Huseby (Babbitt, Minn./Northeast Range HS) made 25 saves for the Saints, while Maggie Cusey had 45 saves for the Sabres.
