DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team bounced back from Friday night's loss with a 4-2 victory over Aurora University (Ill.) Saturday on Senior Day at Mars Lakeview Arena.

How it Happened
The Saints earned their first goal of the weekend as Greta Nundahl (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) found the net after receiving a pass from Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) to make it 1-0 with nine minutes left in the first period. Lauryn Hull (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly HS) also had an assist on the goal. The Spartans (16-7-0, 10-4-0 NCHA) evened the contest at 1-1 less than two minutes later with a slap shot from the slot.

With just over six minutes left in the first, Anderson got behind the Aurora defense and scored on a breakaway to regain the CSS lead at 2-1. Abby Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) was credited with the assist. However, with less than a minute remaining in the period, Aurora tied it once again on the power-play to make it 2-2 at the first intermission.

Anderson would again give the Saints the lead with 11:41 remaining in the second period. Hull and Taylor Thompson (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) had the assists. Two minutes later, CSS extended the lead to 4-2 as Thompson put in a rebound on the power-play with Nundahl and Anderson on the assists.

The 4-2 score held the rest of the way as both teams combined for just 10 shots in the third period.

Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) had 20 saves to earn the win, while Chiara Pfosi had 28 saves for the Spartans.
