Women’s Basketball at Home for Two Games this Week

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team is in control of its own postseason fate as it begins a three-game home stand with rival University of Wisconsin-Superior on Wednesday and the University of Minnesota Morris on Saturday.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints are winners of four of their last five games and have overtaken North Central University (Minn.) for fifth place in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) standings.
-CSS is just a half game behind Morris for fourth place and are 1.5 games ahead of North Central for the final tournament spot.
-The Saints have the tougher remaining schedule against three of the top four teams in the league, but all are at home.
-North Central has three of its final four against the bottom three teams in the conference.
-Junior Kaylee Kennedy (Littlefork, Minn./Littlefork-Big Falls HS) continues to carry the Saints offensively, averaging 18.0 points per game.
-Kennedy is one of two players in the conference averaging at 20 points per game in league play.
-She is also one of two players that rank in the top three in the conference in field goal percentage (.497) and free throw percentage (.843) in UMAC games.
-Karli Skog (Crosslake, Minn./Pequot Lakes HS (Jamestown)) is the only other Saint averaging in double figures in scoring at 10.7 points per game.
-The Saints have been outscored by 100 points in the first quarter this season, while they have a +7 the rest of the game.

Record: 14-7, 10-2 UMAC
-The Yellowjackets sit a game out of first in the UMAC standings, but has the team they are chasing, Bethany Lutheran College, still remaining on their schedule.
-UWS is coming off a 12-point home win against North Central on Saturday.
-Eva Reinertson leads the team in scoring averaging 17.7 points per game.
-Reinertson also averages a team-best 8.0 rebounds per contest.
-She is one of two players in the league to rank in the top four of the conference in both of those categories.
-Reinertson also leads the conference, making 82.5 percent of her free throw attempts.
-Emily Carpenter ranks second in the UMAC, making 41.5 percent of her 3-point attempts.
-Carpenter leads the UMAC with 3.5 assists per game and ranks second with 2.8 steals per game.
-UWS leads the league, making 42.4 percent of its field goal attempts.
-As a team, the Yellowjackets lead the conference with a 1.00 assist-to-turnover ratio.

-The Cougars have won two straight games and will face Crown College on Wednesday.
-Morris is in fourth place in the UMAC standings, a half-game ahead of the Saints and 2.5 games behind the University of Northwestern (Minn.) for third.
-Mia Wassink leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.3 points per game.
-Wassink leads the conference making 86.1 percent of her free throws in league play.
-Becca Holland leads the team the conference with a 2.0 assist-to-turnover ratio.
-Morris ranks 19th in NCAA Division III with 16.9 assists per game.
-Lexus Eagle Chasing also leads the UMAC with 3.0 steals per game.
-Eagle Chasing was named the UMAC Player of the Week on Monday.
-Abby VanKempen leads the team in rebounding at 7.6 per game.

Series History: The Saints have dropped eight straight to the Cougars … Three of the last four meetings in Duluth have been decided by eight points or less.
