csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team never trailed in a 70-45 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) win at Martin Luther College on Wednesday.
How It Happened
Emma Schmidt (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria HS) scored four of the team's first six points as the Saints led 6-0 after three minutes of play. Later in the first quarter, the Saints had another 6-0 run and then finished the period with seven straight points to lead 19-6 after the first quarter. CSS outscored the Knights (0-12, 0-4 UMAC) 10-0 in points off turnovers in the period.
The Saints extended its lead in the second quarter to 19 and led 39-20 at the half. 10 different Saints scored in the first half.
Karli Skog (Crosslake, Minn./Pequot Lakes HS (Jamestown)) scored seven straight points for the Saints in the third quarter as the lead climbed to 28 points. CSS led by 23 points at the end of three quarters and went on to win by a final of 70-45.
Top Performers
Kaylee Kennedy (Littlefork, Minn./Littlefork-Big Falls HS) led the Saints with a game-high 16 points. Schmidt finished with 14 points, while Skog added 11 points.
Lizzie Altendorf (Braham, Minn./Braham HS) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
