csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team opened its season Friday night at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center, falling 8-1 to College Street rival University of Minnesota Duluth.
Doubles
The Saints were swept in all three doubles matches to begin the evening. The tightest match was at the No. 3 spot, which featured first-year players
Hannah Loewen (St. James, Minn. /St. James HS) and
Emily Carpenter (Pine City, Minn. /Pine City HS), who fell by an 8-5 margin.
Singles
The Bulldogs won the first five singles matches that went final, but the Saints would get on the board in the final match of the night as senior
Elizabeth Fink (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century HS) prevailed at the No. 1 spot by scores of 7-5, 6-3. For Fink, it was her first collegiate win at the No. 1 singles position.
