Three Women’s Skiers Place in the Top 15 in Sunday’s 10km Classic

CABLE, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's nordic ski team once again skied to a third-place finish in Sunday's Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) 10km classic race at the Birkebeiner Trailhead.
 
Top Performers
First-year skier Maja Petersson (Solleftea, Sweden/Solleftea Gymnasium) scored for the Saints for the first time this season and led the team for the first time in a CCSA race coming in with the 12th-best collegiate time of 37:58.
 
Junior Samantha Benzing (Boise, Idaho/Boise HS) continued her scoring streak with a 14th-place collegiate finish in a time of 38:18. Benzing has scored for the Saints in 12 straight CCSA races. The final CSS skier to score was first-year skier Mae Barnes (New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS), who posted a time of 38:35, which was 15th-fastest collegiately.
 
Gwinna Remillard (Vassalboro, Maine/Waterville HS), Rana Kraftson (Bayport, Minn./Stillwater HS) and Leah Dutkewych (Jefferson, N.H./White Mountains HS) all finished in the top 20 collegiately.
 
Team Scores
Michigan Tech University won the team title with 104 points after sweeping the top two individuals. Sarah Goble won the event with a time of 34:08. Northern Michigan University was second with 94 points and the Saints third with 66 points.
 
Up Next
The Saints will be in Rhinelander, Wisconsin next weekend for the CCSA Rhinelander Qualifier.
