COLERAINE, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's nordic ski team completed its race weekend at the Mount Itasca Winter Sports Center with the 15km classic mass start Sunday morning as part of the Saints Invitational CCSA race.
Top Performances
First-year skier
Emma Stertz (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids HS) led the way for the Saints, placing 11
th overall with a time of 55:54. Junior
Samantha Benzing (Boise, Idaho/Boise HS), who led the team in Saturday's freestyle race, was 12
th among CCSA skiers on Sunday with a time of 56:02. Sophomore
Rana Kraftson (Bayport, Minn./Stillwater HS), who also was the third-best Saint on Saturday, came across third for CSS once again on Sunday with a time 57:08 to finish 14
th among collegiate skiers.
Mae Barnes (New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS),
Leah Dutkewych (Jefferson, N.H./White Mountains HS) and
Maja Petersson (Solleftea, Sweden/Solleftea Gymnasium) also posted top 20 finishes for the Saints.
Team Points
Northern Michigan University swept the top three spots to take the team win with 111 points. Hilde Eide won the race with a time of 51:49. Michigan Tech University was second with 87 points, while the Saints were third with 66 points.
Up Next
The Saints will be in Cable, Wisconsin next weekend for the Telemark Chase. Action begins Saturday with the freestyle sprints.
