DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) The St. Scholastica women's basketball team never led in Saturday's Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup against Bethany Lutheran College, falling by a 76-58 score.

How It Happened
Bethany (13-2, 6-1 UMAC) jumped out to a quick 9-1 lead before Kaylee Kennedy (Littlefork, Minn./Littlefork-Big Falls HS) would get a layup and Karli Skog (Crosslake, Minn./Pequot Lakes HS (Jamestown)) would hit two threes to bring the Saints within two at 11-9. A Christina Furey (Lake Charles, La./Homeschooled) layup tied the game at 11-11 with three minutes left in the first quarter. The Vikings regained the lead scoring nine of the final 11 points of the period to lead 20-13.

The Saints struggled on the offensive end making shooting 3-of-13 in the first seven minutes of the second quarter. St. Scholastica would manage to only allow a four-point extension on the Vikings lead despite poor shooting from the field. Kennedy scored eight of the Saints 12 points in the quarter as CSS trailed 36-25 at the break.

The third quarter would begin with an 11-4 run by Bethany to go up 47-29. The Vikings climbed their lead to 61-39 after three quarters of play.

The Saints outscored the Vikings 19-15 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough in the 76-58 Bethany win.

Top Performers
