ADRIAN, Mich. (
csssaints.com) – Fourth-ranked Adrian College (Mich.) scored three goals in the first period and then added two more in the third to defeat the St. Scholastica women's hockey team 5-0 Friday night in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play.
How it Happened
The Bulldogs came out of the gate and out-shot the Saints 18-2 in the first period. Adrian got its first goal of the game on the power-play and then added two more goals in the period to lead 3-0 at the first intermission.
The second period of play would be scoreless with only one penalty in the period by Adrian, in which the Saints could not capitalize on.
The Bulldogs added two more goals in the third period, 30 seconds apart, to defeat the Saints 5-0.
Goaltending
Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) made 36 saves for St. Scholastica, while Denisa Jandova had 15 saves to earn the shutout for Adrian.
