How It Happened
The Spartans scored 17 seconds into the game for the lone scoring of the first period to lead 1-0 at the first intermission. Alec Severson (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS (Thief River Falls-SIJHL)) struck pipe late in the period for the Saints. CSS outshot Aurora 10-7 in the period.

Aurora added to its lead five minutes into the second period to make it 2-0. Then less than three minutes later on an Aurora power-play, the Saints grabbed the loose puck in the neutral zone and Nate Pionk (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS (Minot-NAHL)) found Mike Nolan (Aldergrove, British Columbia/Yale Secondary (Fresno-WSHL)) for a short-handed goal to make it 2-1. However, the Spartans extended the margin back to two goals with less than two minutes remaining in the period.

The Spartans added two more goals in the third period to make the final 5-1.

Goaltending
Nick Trenciansky (Vancouver, British Columbia/Holy Cross Regional HS (Kindersley-SJHL)) made 18 saves for the Saints, while Josh Boyko had 27 saves for the Spartans.
