Emily Olson (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids HS) scored in the 25
th minute and that was the difference in the St. Scholastica women's soccer team's 1-0 victory over the University of Minnesota Morris on Saturday in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) contest.
How it Happened
Morgan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS) hit the crossbar in the first four minutes of the game as the Saints peppered the Morris goalkeeper early in the contest. They were finally rewarded when Olson beat the keeper in the 25
th minute. Friday hit the crossbar again later in the first half.
The Cougars (1-4, 0-1 UMAC) did not put a shot on goal in the second half and the Saints took the 1-0 victory.
Alexa Gothard (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (Lake Superior College)) made just one save for her third shutout of the season. Bernadette Cienik had six saves in the loss for Morris.
