DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) -- On Tuesday afternoon, the St. Scholastica women's soccer team took care of Macalester College 2-0 at Saints Field.

How it Happened
The Saints came out in the first period strong with the first shot on goal by Morgan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS) at around the 11-minute mark. CSS goalkeeper Alexa Gothard (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (Lake Superior College)) then spoiled what would be one of the few Macalester (0-7) shots on goal by Caroline Eckstein. The first and only goal for the first half came in the 37th minute when Brea Archer (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) scored off an assist by Janelle Rouillard (Dayton, Minn./Rogers HS). In the first half the Saints outdid the Scots in nearly every category; shots, shots on goal and corner kicks. The only categories the Scots outnumbered the Saints in the first was saves and shots faced.

Although the Scots tried to battle back the second period, it was for the most part won by St. Scholastica. The only score in the second was by Friday of CSS, who scored unassisted in the 80th minute. Macalester outshot the Saints 8-4 in the second, but were still unable to convert any into a score.

Up Next
The Saints (3-5) are back in action on Saturday when they face the University of Minnesota Morris in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) game.
