DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – For the second consecutive day, the St. Scholastica softball team swept Northland College. However, this time the sweep took place at Kenwood Field and was in non-conference play on Wednesday.

Game 1: CSS 12, Northland 1 (F/5)
The Saints scored seven runs in the first inning en route to a 12-1 victory in five innings.

Sophomore Josie Fourre (Albany, Minn./Albany HS) hit a three-run home run in the first inning with Alex Wurzer (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) delivering a RBI single, Sydney Plemel (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) a sacrifice fly and Nicole Anders (Port Angeles, Wash./Sequim HS) a RBI double as part of the inning.

Fourre then hit solo home run in the second inning to give her four home runs in four consecutive at-bats dating back to yesterday. That is tied for the second-most in NCAA Division III history, but it is not a program record. Now Head Coach Rilee Dawson holds the national record with six consecutive at-bats with a home run.

CSS tacked on three more runs between the third and fourth innings to win 12-1 by mercy rule.

Maggie Schley (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) pitched three innings, striking out three to earn the win. Tori Berg (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) pitched the final two innings, scattering three hits. Anders joined Fourre with multiple hits in the contest.

Game 2: CSS 13, Northland 5 (F/5)
The Saints fell behind 4-0 early to the LumberJills (6-24) as the rain came down, but rallied by scoring at least three runs in each of their final four at-bats to win 13-5 in five innings.

Trailing 4-0, the Saints got things going in the bottom of the second inning. Plemel drew a bases loaded walk and that was followed by a Krysta Felber (Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) RBI single. Hannah Thul (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) then drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-3.

Olivia Howe (Scandia, Minn./Forest Lake HS) tied the game at 4-4 to lead off the third inning with a triple down the right field line and then scored on a Northland throwing error. Later in the inning, Wurzer drew a bases loaded walk and Plemel drove in two more runs to make it 7-4 Saints.

After Northland got one run back in the top of the fourth, Fourre hit a two-run home run in the bottom half to make it 9-5. That gives her five home runs in her last six at-bats (grounded out in first AB of game two) and six home runs in the last two days.

With the score at 10-5 entering the bottom of the fifth, the Saints hit three consecutive triples and then Fourre ended it with a sacrifice fly to make the final 13-5.

Howe picked up the victory in the pitcher's circle, going 3.2 innings. Howe and Thul each had a pair of hits to lead the offense. Both of Howe's hits were triples.
