ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica softball team swept its doubleheader against Crown College on Friday, winning by a combined score of 15-1.

Game 1: CSS 11, Crown 0 (F/5)
A six-run fifth inning allowed the Saints a comfortable 11-0 win in the first game in only five innings. Maggie Schley (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) earned the win on the mound, pitching all five innings, earning three strikeouts and only giving up one hit.

The Saints got on the board in the bottom of the first after a ground out by Olivia Howe (Scandia, Minn./Forest Lake HS) drove in Nicole Anders (Port Angeles, Wash./Sequim HS) to make it 1-0. A double by Schley in the second drove in three runs, allowing Hannah Thul (Superior, Wis./Superior HS), Sydney Plemel (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) and Toni Bishop (Roseville, Minn./Roseville HS) to score. A double by Howe later in the inning drove in Schley making it 5-0 to CSS.

The next two innings were scoreless, but the fifth inning would see six runs by the Saints. The first came after an RBI by Bishop drove in Josie Fourre (Albany, Minn./Albany HS). A single to shortstop by Plemel drove in Kayla Christopherson (Zimmerman, Minn./Zimmerman HS (Itasca CC)) increasing CSS' lead to 7-0.

Schley then doubled to left field, allowing Plemel and Alex Wurzer (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) to score. Thul made it 10-0 after a wild pitch allowed her to take home plate. Schley made it 11 after an RBI by Cambria Hale (Littleton, Colo./Dakota Ridge HS).

Not only did Schley get the win in the pitching circle, but she also drove in five runs, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles. Plemel was 3-for-3 with two runs scored.

Game 2: CSS 4, Crown 1
Schley once again pitched the whole game for the Saints, only allowing two hits across seven innings. CSS scored all four runs in the first inning en route to victory.

Anders opened the scoring after an RBI by Thul. Thul then scored thanks to a wild pitch, making it 2-0 to CSS. A double by Bishop then drove in Howe and Schley to increase the Saints' lead to four runs.

Crown (10-20, 4-10 UMAC) were able to get on the scoreboard in the seventh inning after a double drove in one run to make the final 4-1.
