csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team defeated Bethany Lutheran College 9-0 Sunday afternoon at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center.
Doubles
Sara Wennerstrand (Baxter, Minn. /Brainerd HS (Saint Benedict)) and
Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) were the No. 1 team that prevailed in beating Bethany Lutheran 8-2. The No. 2 sibling team of
Elise Hauer (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and
Brynne Hauer (Duluth, Minn. /Duluth East HS) won 8-0. Lastly,
Syd Holt (Crosslake, Minn. /Pequot Lakes HS) and
Maria Valentini (Hibbing, Minn. /Hibbing HS) of the No. 3 team secured the win by an 8-0 score.
Singles
Wennerstrand won 6-0, 6-2, while Rice triumphed 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 and 2, respectively. The No. 3 spot of
Elizabeth Fink (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century HS) won with her score of 6-0, 6-0.
Madilyn Jankila (Eveleth, Minn. /Eveleth-Gilbert HS) was able to outscore her opponent with a 6-2, 6-1 in position No. 4.
Taylor Hays (Altoona, Wis./Altoona HS) won 6-1, 6-1 and
Serena Hutson (Meridian, Idaho/Bishop Kelly HS) won 6-2, 6-1 as the No. 5 and 6 spots.
