ROCHESTER, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team was defeated by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse 6-3 Saturday night at the Rochester Tennis Connection.
Doubles
The No. 3 team of
Brynne Hauer (Duluth, Minn. /Duluth East HS) and
Syd Holt (Crosslake, Minn. /Pequot Lakes HS) was the only CSS team to win by an 8-4 decision.
Singles
B. Hauer also pulled out a tough three-set victory at the No. 5 singles spot. After dropping the opening set 6-1, Hauer battled to win the second set in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-5). The third set super-breaker would go into overtime and Hauer came out on top 12-10.
The other Saint to win was
Madilyn Jankila (Eveleth, Minn. /Eveleth-Gilbert HS) at the No. 6 spot. Like Hauer, Jankila dropped the first set 6-0 and rallied to take the second set 6-2. Jankila then won the third set super-breaker 10-6.
The Eagles won at the top four spots.
Elizabeth Fink (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century HS) lost a tough match at the No. 4 in a third set super-breaker.

The Saints (9-5) will play their third match in three days when they host Bethany Lutheran College on Sunday at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center. Action begins at 3 p.m.
