csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team wrapped up its Spring Break trip in the Orlando area with a 9-0 victory over Curry College (Mass.) Wednesday morning.
Doubles
The No. 1 team of
Maria Valentini (Hibbing, Minn. /Hibbing HS) and
Syd Holt (Crosslake, Minn. /Pequot Lakes HS) won 8-4. The No. 2 team of
Julia Ellefson (Rochester, Minn. /John Marshall HS) and
Grace Paulsen (Virginia, Minn. /Virginia HS) won 8-0 for their first collegiate victories.
The Colonels (0-17) had to forfeit their match at the No. 3 doubles spot.
Singles
Sara Wennerstrand (Baxter, Minn. /Brainerd HS (Saint Benedict)) at the No. 1 spot and
Taylor Hays (Altoona, Wis./Altoona HS) at the No. 3 spot both shut out their opponents 6-0, 6-0.
Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) won her seventh straight with a 6-3, 6-1 decision at the No. 2 spot.
Serena Hutson (Meridian, Idaho/Bishop Kelly HS) won 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 4 position and
Sydney Vyskocil (Ashland, Wis. /Ashland HS) won in a third-set super-breaker 6-0, 1-6, (10-2) at the No. 5 spot for her first collegiate singles victory.
Curry forfeited the No. 6 spot.
