csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team got back in the win column on Tuesday with a 6-3 victory over Ohio Wesleyan University.
Doubles
The Saints took two of the three doubles matches to begin the day. The No. 2 team of
Sara Wennerstrand (Baxter, Minn. /Brainerd HS (Saint Benedict)) and
Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) blanked their opponents 8-0 for their fourth consecutive win. The No. 1 team of
Elise Hauer (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and
Elizabeth Fink (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century HS) won in a tight match 8-7 (8-6).
Singles
St. Scholastica showed their depth in singles action. After the Battling Bishops (1-5) won at the top two spots, Rice won at the No. 3 spot 6-4, 6-4 for her sixth straight victory. Fink also edged her opponent at the No. 4 position 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.
Brynne Hauer (Duluth, Minn. /Duluth East HS) cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 5 spot. The final winner for the Saints was
Madilyn Jankila (Eveleth, Minn. /Eveleth-Gilbert HS) at the No. 6 spot 6-1, 7-6 (7-4).
