Game One: CSS 5, Dickinson 2
Down to their last out with nobody on base and trailing 2-1, the Saints scored four runs in the seventh inning to defeat Dickinson in Monday's opening game.
Maggie Schley (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) knocked her first home run of the season and fifth of her career to even the game 2-2, before a single from
Olivia Howe (Scandia, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and a RBI double down the left field line from
Ashley Pollema (Esko, Minn./Esko HS) put CSS in the lead, 3-2. The Saints added to their lead when
Toni Bishop (Roseville, Minn./Roseville HS) walked and
Lily Kagan (Anchorage, Alaska/Robert Service HS) notched a two-RBI double to center field.
Dickinson had its chance in the bottom half of the inning, but CSS was able to retire the side to secure the win.
Schley, Howe and Pollema each had two hits in the contest to pace the Saints' offense.
Schley also earned the win in the circle for CSS, allowing only one earned run on two hits with one strikeout and five walks.
Game Two: Millikin 4, CSS 1
CSS scored first in the second game of the day, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a leadoff single from
Nicole Anders (Port Angeles, Wash./Sequim HS), a sacrifice bunt from
Krysta Felber (Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) and a RBI ground out off the bat of Howe.
The lead would only last until the third inning, however, as Millikin plated four runs on three CSS errors. Each team would remain in check for the remainder of the game, as the final score stayed 4-1.
Anders, Schley and Howe led the Saints offensively with one hit apiece.
