WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team lost to Bethel University 8-1 Friday evening at Lifetime Fitness in its first NCAA Division III competition of the season.
Doubles:
The lone victory for the Saints came at No. 3 doubles as the first-year tandem of
Brynne Hauer (Duluth, Minn. /Duluth East HS) and
Madilyn Jankila (Eveleth, Minn. /Eveleth-Gilbert HS) won 8-4.
Singles:
The Royals (3-0) would win five of the six singles matches in straight sets. However, B. Hauer would win her first set at the No. 5 spot 6-2. She then dropped the second set 6-2 and before falling in a third-set super-breaker 10-8 to give the Royals the 8-1 win.
Up Next:
The Saints (0-2) will have two matches on Saturday facing both Saint Mary's University and Gustavus Adolphus College at the Swanson Tennis Center. Action begins at 2:30 p.m. against Saint Mary's.
