GENEVA, Ill. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team defeated Aurora University (Ill.) by a score of 2-0 at Fox Valley Ice Arena on Friday evening in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) action.

The Saints found their first goal of the game with 2:42 left to play in the first period.
Courtney Bloemke (Nicollet, Minn./Mankato West HS) set up
Tessa Lowry (Calgary, Alberta/Edge School) for the even-strength goal to make it 1-0 to CSS. For Lowry, it was her first goal of the season.
Both teams had two power play opportunities in the second period, but neither was able to capitalize on the advantage. The Spartans (6-13-3, 3-9-3 NCHA) would have tying goal disallowed in the period due to an interference penalty.
The Saints found their second and final goal with 15:10 left on the clock in the third period.
Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) scored her ninth goal of the season thanks to an assist by
Alexia Klaas (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) and
Taylor Thompson (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS). Shots at the end of the game finished 23-14 to CSS.

Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) saved all 14 shots she faced to earn the win in net for the Saints. The win ties her with Lindsey Hartfiel for the most career wins in program history (28).
