HOUGHTON, Mich. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's nordic ski team had an unprecedented three skiers earn all-region accolades on the same day with three finishing in the top 10 in Sunday's 15km classic race of the NCAA Central Region Championships.
Top Performers
For the second straight day
Greta Jenkins (Palmer, Alaska/Colony HS) led the Saints with a career-best fourth-place finish with a time of 1:00:20.
Nicole Gilman (Manitowish Waters, Wis./Lakeland Union HS) also posted a career-best top-five finish coming in next five seconds behind Jenkins at 1:00:25.
Samantha Benzing (Boise, Idaho/Boise HS) was the final Saint to score in ninth place with a time of 1:01:31.
The last time the Saints had multiple all-region performances on the same day was 2016 and the last time the Saints had three all-region performers was 2014.
Team Scores
With Northern Michigan University not having its top skiers in competing on Sunday, Michigan Tech University won the day with 95 points. The Huskies' Amanda Kautzer won the event with a time of 59:50. Northern Michigan was second with 89 points the Saints were third with 82 points. The 82 points were a season-high.
Northern Michigan won the regional title for the weekend with 193 points. Michigan Tech was second with 185 points and the Saints finished third with 144 points.
