Women’s Skiing Comes Home Third after CCSA Championships

MINNEAPOLIS (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's ski team tied for third in Sunday's 5km individual freestyle start of the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Championships to finish third overall for the weekend.
 
Top Performers
Junior Nicole Gilman (Manitowish Waters, Wis./Lakeland Union HS) led the Saints on Sunday with a 29th place finish and 11th among CCSA skiers. She has scored for the Saints in each of the freestyle races this season. Gilman's time was 16:10. Senior Greta Jenkins (Palmer, Alaska/Colony HS) posted the next-best time for the Saints in 36th overall (13th among CCSA skiers) with a time of 16:34.
 
Sophomore Samantha Benzing (Boise, Idaho/Boise HS) was the final Saint to score in 41st overall (16th in the CCSA), posting a time of 16:51. Benzing has scored for the Saints in every race thus far.
 
Freshman Rana Kraftson (Bayport, Minn./Stillwater HS) and sophomore Hanna Dahlberg (Ulricehamn, Sweden/Tingsholms School) also had top-20 CCSA finishes for the Saints.
 
Team Scores
Northern Michigan University had three of the top four skiers once again on Sunday to capture the team title. Nicole Schneider was the overall race winner with a time of 14:41.
 
Michigan Tech University finished second on Sunday with 86 points and the Saints tied with the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay for third with 67 points.
 
CSS finished third for the weekend with 137 overall points. The Saints have finished in the top three each of the last three seasons.

The final race weekend takes place next week in Houghton, Michigan with the NCAA Central Region Championships.
