DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team scored a pair of second period goals in a 2-1 victory over St. Norbert College (Wis.) Friday night in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play at Mars Lakeview Arena.

How it Happened
Whistles were few-and-far between in the opening period with no goals, no penalties and only 10 face-offs. St. Norbert out-shot the Saints 7-5 in the scoreless opening frame.

The Saints struck first in the second period as Taylor Murray (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) found Mariah Haedrich (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) who just came on the ice following a change and beat the goaltender on the breakaway to make it 1-0 with 12:10 remaining in the period. Then with four minutes left in the period, Greta Nundahl (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) buried a rebound off a Sam Gorecki (Homer Glen, Ill./Providence Catholic (Chicago Fury)) shot on the power-play to extend the lead to 2-0. Abby Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) was also credited with an assist.

The Green Knights cut the margin in half with 1:25 remaining in the period to make it 2-1 going into the third. St. Norbert would get the lone power-play of the third period and struck the iron during the power-play, but could not find the net as the Saints held on for the 2-1 win.

Goaltending
Lori Huseby (Babbitt, Minn./Northeast Range HS) made 19 saves to improve to 2-1 on the season. Anais Aurard had 22 saves for St. Norbert.
