SUPERIOR, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team concluded play at the University of Wisconsin-Superior Shootout Holiday Classic on Monday with a 66-58 setback against Finlandia University (Mich.).

How It Happened
Much like Sunday's game, the Saints got off to a slow start making only two field goals in the first eight minutes of the game and falling in an 11-point hole. CSS trailed 17-7 after one period of play. Finlandia's Katie Lundeen scored 15 of the team's 17 points in the quarter.

The Lions (6-11) grew their lead to as much as 20 in the second quarter before the Saints went on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 12. Finlandia would lead 37-24 at the half.

The Lions began the second half with a 3-pointer to widen their lead to 24, but the Saints answered with an 11-1 run capped off by an Alison Huber (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS (Hibbing CC)) four-point play. With four minutes to go in the third quarter Karli Skog (Crosslake, Minn./Pequot Lakes HS (Jamestown)) converted a three-point play to make it 46-43. However, the Lions scored eight of the final 10 points of the quarter to stay in front 54-45 after three periods.

CSS opened the fourth quarter with an 8-0 run with six points coming from Skog to cut the margin to one with seven minutes to go. Unfortunately, the Lions came right back with an 8-0 run of their own to extend the lead back to nine and would hold off the Saints down the stretch to win 66-58.

Top Performers
Skog scored 13 of her team-high 15 points in the second half. Kaylee Kennedy (Littlefork, Minn./Littlefork-Big Falls HS) finished with 14 points and A. Huber with 12 points. Skog and Kennedy each led the team with six rebounds. Emma Schmidt (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria HS) had five assists.

Katie Lundeen had 32 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Lions.
