Women’s Soccer Welcomes Northwestern for UMAC Title Saturday

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team will host the University of Northwestern (Minn.) for the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament championship on Saturday.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints are the No. 1 seed in the UMAC Tournament for the second straight season.
-CSS defeated Martin Luther College 2-0 in Wednesday's tournament semifinal.
-Morgan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS) scored both goals in the victory and has now scored a goal in nine straight games.
-Friday now has 26 goals this season, the most by a Saint since Kelsey Kehtel recorded 30 goals in 2013.
-That ranks third in NCAA Division III.
-Friday scored three goals in the regular season victory over Northwestern this season.
-Janelle Rouillard (Dayton, Minn./Rogers HS) had an assist in Wednesday's semifinal win and leads the UMAC with nine assists.
-Goalkeeper Alexa Gothard (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (Lake Superior College)) recorded her ninth shutout of the season on Wednesday.
-CSS still has not allowed a goal against a UMAC program this season.
-The Saints have won 13 UMAC Tournament titles, nine in the last 12 seasons.

Record: 11-10-0, 7-1-0 UMAC
-The Eagles are the No. 2 seed in the UMAC Tournament.
-Northwestern defeated the University of Wisconsin-Superior 2-0 in Wednesday's semifinal.
-The Eagles began the season with five straight losses, but will enter Saturday's championship game on a five-game win streak.
-UNW is the reigning UMAC Tournament champion after beating UWS in the title game in 2018.
-Emily Currie, who was last year's UMAC Tournament MVP, scored both goals in Wednesday's semifinal win over the Yellowjackets.
-This will be the third consecutive UMAC Tournament championship game for the Eagles.
-The Eagles lead the conference with 53 goals scored and average a conference-best 12 shots-on-goal per game.
-Anna Welch leads the team with 15 goals and 34 points.
-Danielle Roberts has 10 goals, while Linley Norman has a team-high eight assists.
-Ellie Fryer ranks second in the conference with a 1.41 goals-against-average.

Series History: The Saints have not allowed a Northwestern goal in each of the last three meetings … In Northwestern's last trip to Duluth, the game ended in a scoreless draw in September of 2018 … That has been St. Scholastica's only non-win in UMAC regular season play the last two seasons … CSS is 8-2-0 all-time against the Eagles in postseason play … This will be the fourth championship meeting between the two programs since 2010 … The last time the Saints hosted Northwestern at Saints Field in the UMAC Tournament championship, the Eagles prevailed 1-0 in 2010.
