MINNEAPOLIS (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team was defeated by No. 23 Augsburg University Tuesday night 101-48 in non-conference action.
How It Happened
Augsburg (3-0) jumped out to a quick 14-4 lead over the Saints and that would be the story of the game. St. Scholastica would only be able to muster up 10 points in the half with the first quarter score being 31-10 in favor of the Auggies.
The Saints would begin to gain some momentum at the start of the second quarter with a nifty and-one layup by
Kaylee Kennedy (Littlefork, Minn./Littlefork-Big Falls HS) and on the next possession
Karli Skog (Crosslake, Minn./Pequot Lakes HS (Jamestown)) would hit a three pointer. The deficit would still be 19 points. The next eight minutes would be owned by Augsburg going on a 22-9 run to go into half up 57-27.
The Saints would only be able to put up 12 points in the third quarter compared to Augsburg's 28 points to put the score at 85-39. St. Scholastica would continue to struggle with turnovers and difficult shots scoring nine points in the final quarter to fall 101-48.
Top Performers
Kennedy and
Morgan Anderson (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS (UW-Superior)) led the Saints offensively with 11 points each.
Lizzie Altendorf (Braham, Minn./Braham HS) would chip in six points as well. Kennedy was the leading rebounder on the night with five rebounds.
Alison Huber (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS (Hibbing CC)) would tack on five assists in the loss.

The Saints (1-2) will travel to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Friday evening for their third of five straight away games. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. They will then make the short trip to face the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Saturday afternoon.
