Notables
-Kasel records three goals and four points on the weekend
-CSS is being out-shot 91-29 in the first period this season

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team suffered its fifth one-goal defeat of the season on Saturday, falling 2-1 to Lake Forest College (Ill.) in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) action.

How it Happened
The Foresters (2-2-0, 2-0-0 NCHA) got out in front with two goals in the opening period. Lake Forest scored just over five minutes into the game and then added its second goal with 26 seconds remaining in the period to make it 2-0 at the first intermission. CSS was out-shot 16-6 in the period.

The ice began to tilt in St. Scholastica's favor in the second period, outshooting the Foresters 12-10. The Saints got on the board with a power-play goal from Kayla Kasel (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS), her third goal of the series, to cut the deficit in half. Mariah Haedrich (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) and Sam Gorecki (Homer Glen, Ill./Providence Catholic (Chicago Fury)) were credited with the assists.

That was the score entering the third period where the Saints would dominate the period, holding the Foresters to only two shots on goal. However, none of St. Scholastica's 10 shots would be the equalizer as Lake Forest held on for the 2-1 victory.

Goaltending
Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) made 26 saves for the Saints, while Jacque Rogers had 27 saves for the Foresters.
