ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team traveled to Crown College for an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup Wednesday afternoon. The Saints would get on the board early and would not ease up scoring five goals in the first 55 minutes of the game to leave victorious 5-0.
How It Happened
St. Scholastica did not take long to open up the scoring, one minute and 27 seconds in, following a corner kick,
Kaiya Quam (Oakdale, Minn./Mounds View HS) was able to get a quick strike into the bottom right pocket of the net to bring the Saints up 1-0 very early in the game. The Saints would continue their offensive attack when
Mara Roberts (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS) would assist
Morgan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS) with a quick fifth-minute goal to bring the Saints lead to 2-0. In the 15
th minute Roberts would once again find Friday for a phenomenal header off the post that would fall into the net to enhance the lead to 3-0. Neither team would get many offensive chances the remainder of the half with the Saints finishing the first 45 minutes leading 3-0.
St. Scholastica would continue their offensive onslaught with Friday getting to the back of the net not once but twice. The first of the second half came in the 48
th minute unassisted. The second score came in the 55
th minute by way of an assist by
McKenzie Nelson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS). The majority of the non-starters would come into the game and play out the remainder of the half.
Top Performers
Friday led the team for goals with an incredible four. Quam would follow with one goal. Roberts and Nelson each added two and one assist, respectively, for the Saints.

The Saints (7-6, 4-0-0 UMAC) will host Martin Luther College on Friday afternoon. Originally scheduled for Saturday, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather in the forecast for Saturday. The start time is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Saints Field.
