DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team welcomed Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) opponent, Martin Luther College, to Saints Field Friday afternoon. The Saints would take their strong offensive tempo and make the day hard by bombarding the Knights defense with 24 shots on the day in comparison to Martin Luther's one total shot. St. Scholastica would score early and not look back winning the game 3-0.

How It Happened
CSS started out the game with a very early goal with a sweet tic-tac-toe goal from Janelle Rouillard (Dayton, Minn./Rogers HS) to Emily Olson (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids HS) to McKenzie Nelson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) for the fourth minute header goal. St. Scholastica would own Martin Luther's side of the field for the majority of the half and the offensive tempo would come through in the 33rd minute when Morgan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS) would weave in and out of defenders to get a line shot into the top right of the net for the second goal of the game to put the Saints up 2-0. The half would close out with more offensive opportunities for the Saints, but no shots would get through to the back of the net.

The Saints would keep up their tempo offensively in the second half and come through with their first goal of the half when in the 70th minute when Brea Archer (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) beat the keeper to ball off a pass from Friday and put home the open net goal to put the Saints up 3-0. Elisa Galyen (Duluth, Minn./Two Harbors HS) also had an assist on the goal. St. Scholastica would switch their mindset from offense to defense following the goal and that would give Martin Luther zero second half shots.

Top Performers
Nelson, Friday and Archer would be the trio goal scorers for the Saints on the day. Rouillard and Olson added assists in the first half with Galyen and Friday tallying assists in the second half. The Saints offensive attack made life very easy for Alexa Gothard (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (Lake Superior College)) in the net for the Saints saving the only shot on goal.

St. Scholastica (8-6, 5-0 UMAC) will end its short home stand on Tuesday afternoon when they welcome the University of Wisconsin-Stout to Saints Field. The game scheduled for a 3 p.m. start time.
