ST. PAUL, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team surrendered four goals in the first 40 minutes in a 5-1 loss to No. 19 University of St. Thomas on Sunday.
How it Happened
The Tommies (10-2-2) scored two minutes and 22 seconds into the contest directly off a corner kick. St. Thomas added two more goals in the first 20 minutes and made it 4-0 with a goal in the 40
th minute.
After the Tommies added another goal in the second half, the Saints got on the board when
Morgan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS) played a give-and-go with
McKenzie Nelson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and beat the keeper one-on-one to make it 5-1. That would be the final as that was the only shot the Saints had on goal for the game.
Alexa Gothard (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (Lake Superior College)) had six saves for the Saints.

The Saints (9-7-0) will face Northland College on Wednesday in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
