Travel Week Ahead for Men’s Basketball

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team plays a pair of road games this week, first going out of conference to face Finlandia University (Mich.) on Wednesday and then hoping back into league play to face Crown College on Saturday.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints are coming off a six-point loss at the University of Northwestern (Minn.) on Saturday.
-In the loss the Saints were out-scored 50-29 in the second half, after leading by 15 at halftime.
-Senior Brandon Newman (Barnum, Minn./Barnum HS) led the Saints with 20 points and also matched a career-high with five steals.
-Newman is 39 points shy of moving into the top-5 of the program's career all-time scoring list.
-Junior Collin Anderson (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) continues to lead the UMAC in 3-point field goal percentage (.446) and 3-point field goals per game (3.42).
-After shooting above 40 percent from the floor in the first seven games of the season, the Saints have shot below that mark in four of the last six games.
-CSS also shot over 40 percent from beyond the arc in five of the first six games, but have done so just once in the last seven games.
-The Saints have gone to the free throw line 15 or less times in each of the last five games after attempting at least 20 free throws in six of the first eight games.
-Four of CSS' eight losses this season have been by six points or less.

Record: 0-11
-The Lions are in search of their first win of the season.
-Finlandia has lost its first 11 games by an average margin of 22.3 points per game, which ranks near the bottom of NCAA Division III.
-The Lions have the worst turnover margin in the country at -8.5 per game.
-Jaden Janke leads the team in scoring at 14.4 points per game
-Austin Carlson averages nearly a double-double at 9.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.

-The Storm will have a conference showdown at Bethany Lutheran College on Wednesday before hosting the Saints on Saturday.
-Crown is coming off its first UMAC loss of the season, a 3-point defeat at home to Northland College on Saturday.
-The Storm had wins over Northwestern and the University of Minnesota Morris already in league play.
-Crown has the best scoring offense in the conference and ranks 16th in NCAA Division III, averaging 91.0 points per game.
-It has made 253 free throws thus far, which ranks 11th in the country.
-The Storm make a league-best 9.2, 3-point field goals per game.
-Timothy Wendel averages a conference-best 22.4 points per game and ranks second in the league in rebounds at 9.2 per game.
-Christian Moore makes a UMAC-best 56.4 percent of his field goal attempts.
