DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team was unable to overcome a two-goal first period deficit in their 3-2 loss to Saint Anselm College (N.H.) at Mars Lakeview Arena on Friday evening.

The Scoring
The Hawks (12-2-1) got on the board first with 8:03 left to go in the first period off a goofy bounce off the back of CSS goaltender Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) to make it 1-0. They followed up three and a half minutes later with another goal to double their advantage.

With six seconds left in the period, CSS was able to get one back with a power-play goal by Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS), assisted by Amber Tilander (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS). Shots on goal at the end of the period finished 13-7 in favor of Saint Anselm.

The Saints were outshot 8-5 in the second, but neither team was able to get on the board.

The Hawks were able to extend their advantage with 12:40 left to go in the third, making it 3-1. But CSS pulled one back with 1:23 left to go in the game with a goal by Tilander, which was assisted by Kennedy Houge (Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) and Paige Forsman (Cokato, Minn./Dassel-Cokato HS). The Saints then pulled their goalie with 38 seconds to go, but were not able to find an equalizer and the game finished 3-2 to the Hawks.
