Benzing Posts a Top 5 on Sunday in Rhinelander

RHINELANDER, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's ski team completed competition at the CAVOC Trails on Sunday with a third place finish in the 5km freestyle individual start.
 
Top Performers
Sophomore Samantha Benzing (Boise, Idaho/Boise HS) led the Saints with fifth-place finish in a time of 16:15. Benzing was the only Saint to score in both races this weekend.
 
Junior Nicole Gilman (Manitowish Waters, Wis./Lakeland Union HS) was seventh with a time of 16:29. Sophomore Hanna Dahlberg (Ulricehamn, Sweden/Tingsholms School) edged teammate Cecelia Boyle (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) by two-tenths of a second for the final scoring spot in 11th with a time of 16:52.1.
 
Greta Jenkins (Palmer, Alaska/Colony HS) and Rana Kraftson (Bayport, Minn./Stillwater HS) also posted top-15 finishes for the Saints.
 
Team Finishes
Michigan Tech University took the team title for the day with 104 points. The Huskies had the top two skiers in the field led by Sarah Goble, who won the event with a time of 14:55.
 
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay was second with 78 points, while the Saints were third with 74 points. Saturday's team winner, Northern Michigan University, did not compete.
 
Up Next
The Saints will head to the U.P. of Michigan next weekend for the Northern Michigan Qualifier at the Al Quaal Recreation Area.
