Bettendorf Leads Women’s Skiers in Rhinelander

RHINELANDER, Wis. (csssaints.com) – In the first competition of the season featuring the entire Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) field, the St. Scholastica women's ski team placed third out of six teams in the 10km classic in frigid temps at the CAVOC Trails.
 
Top Performers
The Saints were led by freshman Hannah Bettendorf (Duluth, Minn./Homeschooled), who placed sixth overall with a time of 33:51. A pair of sophomores completed the scoring for St. Scholastica as Cecelia Boyle (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) came across in 12th place with a time of 34:43. She was followed by Samantha Benzing (Boise, Idaho/Boise HS) in 13th at 34:46.
 
Nicole Gilman (Manitowish Waters, Wis./Lakeland Union HS), Hanna Dahlberg (Ulricehamn, Sweden/Tingsholms School) and Greta Jenkins (Palmer, Alaska/Colony HS) also posted top-20 finishes for the Saints.
 
Team Finishes
Northern Michigan University had three of the top four finishers to capture the team win for the day. The Wildcats were led by the overall race winner Paige Schneider in a time of 33:14.
 
Michigan Tech University was second with the Saints in third, narrowly edging the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Action continues on Sunday with the 5km freestyle at 12:30 p.m.
