MEQUON, Wis. (csssaints.com) – After trailing by a goal at the first intermission, the St. Scholastica women's hockey team scored three unanswered to defeat Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday 3-1 and earn a series split against the Falcons.

How it Happened
The Saints controlled the first period, out-shooting Concordia 9-2. However, it was the Falcons (10-6-2, 6-4-2 NCHA) that found the net on one of their two shots on goal to make 1-0 after 20 minutes of action.

The top line for the Saints then took over and would capitalize on their second power-play of the game when Alexia Klaas (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) scored with eight minutes remaining in the second period. Kayla Kasel (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and Taylor Thompson (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) had the assists. Then in the final two minutes of the second period, Klaas added another goal to give the Saints a 2-1 advantage. Thompson and Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) had the assists.

The third period would be much like the first period, but opposite. Concordia controlled the puck, out-shooting the Saints 25-3, but St. Scholastica would be the only team to find the net. This time Thompson was the recipient of a goal with assists from Anderson and Taylor Murray (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) to make the final 3-1.

Goaltending
Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) made 36 saves, including 25 in the final period to earn the victory. Christina Pattengale had 17 saves in the loss for the Falcons.

Up Next
