csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica baseball team rolled over the University of Minnesota Morris in a doubleheader by scores of 17-1 and 18-2 at Wade Stadium Saturday evening.
Game 1: CSS 17, UMM 1 (F/7)
The Saints led 5-0 through the first four innings with a pair of sacrifice flies, scoring on a wild pitch and drawing a walk with the bases loaded. CSS put the game away by scoring four runs in the fifth and eight in the seventh to win the game 17-1 by mercy rule.
Conor Wollenzien (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS) had three RBIs for the Saints.
Tim Munn (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) was 4-for-5 at the plate, while
Brad Fossum (Sturgeon Lake, Minn./Moose Lake HS (Concordia-St. Paul)) was 3-for-4. On the mound for the Saints,
Isaac Rocha (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) only gave up six hits in the 23 batters he faced across 4.2 innings and struck out nine to earn the victory.
Seth Anderson (Robbinsdale, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper HS) finished the final 2.1 innings on the mound for the Saints, allowing only one hit
Game 2: CSS 18, UMM 2 (F/7)
After scoring five runs through the first four innings, CSS scored 10 runs in the fifth inning to make it 15-0. CSS added three runs in the sixth to make it 18-0. Morris added two runs late to make the final in the nightcap 18-2
Joey Zwak (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) was 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs and a run scored.
Steven Neutzling (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral) homered for the second time in the last three games.
Braydon Hanson (Monticello, Minn./Monticello HS (UW-Whitewater)) was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Neutzling, Hanson and
Drew Colvard (Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) all drove in three runs.
Aidan Zurn (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) only gave up one hit during the three innings to earn the win in his first start since 2016.
Nick Peterson (Richfield, Minn./Richfield HS (St. Cloud Tech & CC)) didn't allow a single hit during the two innings of relief for CSS.
