GLENDALE, Wis. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica women's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to Concordia University Wisconsin Thursday night at the Paley Tennis Center. The Saints had swept the Falcons in both of their meetings before, the last occurring in 2013.

Doubles
The Saints won two out of three doubles matches. Elise Hauer (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and Alexia Brascugli (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS), the No. 2 team, were victorious with a score of 8-5. At No. 3, Daniela Rojas (Monterrey, Mexico/Universidad Tecmilenio) and Sarah Coryell (Golden Valley, Minn./Armstrong HS) edged out their opponents 9-7. The No. 3 doubles spot for CSS is 9-3 on the year.

Singles
CSS won only two out of six singles matches, but were narrowly defeated in three separate matches by losing in the third set. At the No. 2 seed, Hauer lost the first set 6-0, won the second set 6-2, but then lost the third set 10-6. Elizabeth Fink (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century HS), at the No. 4 spot, first won 6-4, lost 6-4, and then was defeated 10-2. And, No. 6 Brascugli won 7-6 (7-3), lost the second set 6-3, and then lost again with a score of 10-7.

Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS), at the No. 3 spot, had an easier time defeating her Concordia opponent, winning 6-4, 6-3. No. 5 Coryell swept, winning 6-0, 6-0. Prior to this match, Concordia was 14-1 at the No. 5 singles spot.

The Saints (6-6, 1-0 UMAC) face conference opponent Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday, April 7. Match time is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter.
