DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team opened Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action on Saturday with a 9-0 victory over Crown College at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center.
 
Doubles
Between the three doubles matches, the Saints dropped only one game. The No. 1 team of Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) and Sarah Coryell (Golden Valley, Minn./Armstrong HS) won 8-0 as did the No. 3 team of Kelly Neil (Mora, Minn./Mora HS) and Syd Holt (Pequot Lakes, Minn. /Pequot Lakes HS). The No. 2 tandem of Elise Hauer (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and Emma Bartels (Roseville, Minn./Mounds View HS (Minn.-Duluth)) won 8-1.
 
Singles
St. Scholastica won all six singles matches, including four in which it did not give up a game. Coryell won her sixth straight singles match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 spot.
 
Serena Hutson (Meridian, Idaho/Bishop Kelly HS) at No. 4, Jolene Duda (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) at No. 5 and Taylor Neil (Mora, Minn. /Mora HS) at No. 6 won by the same 6-0, 6-0 scores.
 
Daniela Rojas (Monterrey, Mexico/Universidad Tecmilenio) rebounded from a slow start to win 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot. Taylor Hays (Altoona, Wis./Altoona HS) was the last winner for the Saints by scores of 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot.
 
Up Next:
The Saints (6-5, 1-0 UMAC) are back in action on Thursday when they face Concordia University Wisconsin in non-conference play down in the Milwaukee area. Action is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
