DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) -- The St. Scholastica men's basketball team defeated Martin Luther College by a score of 93-73 at Reif Gymnasium on Saturday.
 
First Half
The teams were evenly matched for most of the first half, with the lead changing five times in the first 15 minutes. CSS trailed by seven midway through the half, thanks to a 9-0 run by the Knights. However, the Saints responded with a 10-0 run and then outscored Martin Luther 21-8 in the final five minutes to take a 15-point lead into the locker room.
 
Second Half
With a combination of the end of the first half and the start of the second, CSS went on a 17-0 to extend the lead to 26. The Knights were then able to add a layup before the Saints went on an 18-point run to increase their lead to 42, their largest lead of the game.
 
The Knights pushed hard to get back into the game in the final minutes, but were only able to cut CSS' lead down to 20 and the game finished 93-73 in favor of the Saints.
 
Top Performers for CSS
Four Saints put up double figures, Zach Dahlman (Braham, Minn./Braham HS) led with a career-high 24 points, while Jarod Wilken (Annandale, Minn./Annandale HS) recorded 16, Brandon Newman (Barnum, Minn./Barnum HS) 14, and Nate Weets (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) 11. Dahlman also had five assists.
 
Top Performers for the Opponent
Richard Eckmann led the Knights in scoring with 18 points and Austin DeNoyer had 12.

Up Next
The Saints (14-7, 10-3 UMAC) host Finlandia University (Mich.) on Wednesday at Reif Gymnasium for a non-conference matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
