Jenkins’ All-Region Performance Leads Women Skiers

ISHPEMING, Mich. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's nordic ski team finished third in the 5km classic race Sunday at the NCAA Central Region Championships at the Al Quaal Nordic Center. The region championships were held in conjunction with the USSA Hall of Fame SuperTour event.
 
Top Performances
It was junior Greta Jenkins (Palmer, Alaska/Colony HS) leading the way with a ninth-place finish among collegiate skiers to earn all-region accolades for the first time in her career. Jenkins was 17th overall in the SuperTour with a time of 16:47. Jenkins scored for the Saints in every race this season.
 
Senior Kelsey Dickinson (Winthrop, Wash./Liberty Bell HS) was the next fastest Saint placing 13th collegiately and 21st overall with a time of 17:07. The final Saint to score was freshman Cecelia Boyle (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) in 15th (24th Overall) with a time of 17:23.
 
Other CSS freshmen Samantha Benzing (Boise, Idaho/Boise HS) and Hanna Dahlberg (Ulricehamn, Sweden/Tingsholms School) were right behind Boyle in 16th and 17th. Megan Schiferl (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) was 19th to put six Saints skiers in the top 20.
 
Northern Michigan University controlled the day again to capture the region championship. Vivian Hett led all CCSA racers with a time of 15:30, which was fifth in the SuperTour event. Kaitlynn Miller won the overall SuperTour event with a time of 14:53.
 
Michigan Tech University beat the Saints in a classic race for the first time this season to finish second for the day and the weekend. The Saints were third at the region championships for the second straight year.

The qualifiers for the NCAA Skiing Championships will officially be announced on Monday, February 26. The NCAA Championships take place on March 8 and 10 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
