ISHPEMING, Mich. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's nordic ski team finished third in Saturday's 15km freestyle race at the NCAA Central Region Championships at the Al Quaal Nordic Center. The region championships were held in conjunction with the USSA Hall of Fame SuperTour event.
Top Performances
Senior
Kelsey Dickinson (Winthrop, Wash./Liberty Bell HS) became the first St. Scholastica women's skier to earn all-region laurels for a fifth time in her career by posting a top-10 finish among Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) skiers. Dickinson was 19
th overall, but ninth among league skiers with a time of 47:53. She can match Paul Schommer's program record of six all-region performances tomorrow in the 5k classic.
Junior
Greta Jenkins (Palmer, Alaska/Colony HS) scored once again for the Saints with a 13
th place finish among CCSA skiers and 24
th overall with a time of 50:33. The final Saint to score was freshman
Hanna Dahlberg (Ulricehamn, Sweden/Tingsholms School) in 15
th (26
th overall) with a time of 50:43.
Freshmen
Samantha Benzing (Boise, Idaho/Boise HS) and
Megan Schiferl (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) also posted top-20 CCSA finishes for the Saints and both also placed in the top 30 overall.
Northern Michigan University had the top seven CCSA finishers in the field led by Kristen Bourne, who was fourth overall with a time of 44:36. Chelsea Holmes won the overall SuperTour event with a time of 42:37.
