Jenkins a Career-Best Sixth; Women's Skiers Second at CCSAs

RHINELANDER, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's nordic ski team had five skiers place in the top 17 in Saturday's 5km classic race at the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Championships at the CAVOC Trails.
 
Top Performances
CSS senior Kelsey Dickinson (Winthrop, Wash./Liberty Bell HS) did not compete, so junior Greta Jenkins (Palmer, Alaska/Colony HS) picked up the slack, posting a career-best sixth place finish with a time of 17:11. Jenkins was the top non-Northern Michigan University finisher.
 
Freshman Cecelia Boyle (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) had the next-best CSS time, coming in 13th with a time of 17:39. Three more St. Scholastica freshmen finished 15th-17th. Hanna Dahlberg (Ulricehamn, Sweden/Tingsholms School) led the way in 15th as the final Saints scorer with a time of 17:47. Samantha Benzing (Boise, Idaho/Boise HS) was 16th with a time of 17:52 and Megan Schiferl (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) was 17th at 18:12.
 
Team Scores
Northern Michigan's Vivian Hett won the event with a time of 15:49. The Wildcats swept the top five spots to take the top podium spot for the day with 111 points. The Saints were second with 75 points. Michigan Tech University was third with 72 points. The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay was next with 59 points, followed by St. Olaf College and St. Cloud State with 52 points each.
 
The last time the Saints were second as a team in a CCSA Distance Championship event was at the 2015 championships where they were second in both disciplines.
