Plewa Wins the Mile in Indoor Opener

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's track & field team had its indoor season opener on Saturday, hosting The Opener in the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse.
 
Plewa Wins Mile Run
Sophomore Aria Plewa (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) took first in the mile run, beating the rest of the field by 44 seconds with a time of 5:26.46. Sophomore teammate Liana Blomgren (Mountain Lake, Minn./Mountain Lake HS) was second at 6:10.52.
 
Other Top Performances
Junior Anika Kling (Hudson, Wis./Hudson HS) placed fourth in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 16'7" (5.05m). Kling was also fifth in the 60m dash with a time of 8.07. In the prelims, Kling ran a personal-best time of 8.03.
 
Senior Maria West (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS (Concordia-Moorhead)) was runner-up in the 800m run with a time of 2:28.73. Sophomore Lexi Erickson (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS (St. Catherine)) was fourth with a time of 2:33.76. Erickson also tied for fourth in the high jump with a former St. Catherine University teammate, clearing 4'11" (1.50m).
 
Sophomore Melissa Geisenhof (Little Falls, Minn./Little Falls HS) was fourth in the pole vault, clearing 8'2.5" (2.50m).
 
Senior Emily Conley (Marinette, Wis./Marinette HS) was fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 39'6" (12.04m). Mikayla Solberg (Elk Mound, Wis./Elk Mound HS) was eighth with a personal-best mark of 36'4" (11.07m).
