Bettendorf Leads Women’s Skiers in First Collegiate Race

HOUGHTON, Mich. (csssaints.com) – Freshman Hannah Bettendorf (Duluth, Minn./Homeschooled) paced the St. Scholastica women's nordic ski team on Saturday in the 5km classic of the Michigan Tech Junior National Qualifier with a 10th-place finish.
 
Top Performances
The Saints had 10 skiers competing on Saturday. Bettendorf came across the finish line in 10th place with a time of 16:23. She was the seventh-best Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) finisher.
 
Junior Nicole Gilman (Manitowish Waters, Wis./Lakeland Union HS) had the next best time in 17th at 16:57. Sophomore Samantha Benzing (Boise, Idaho/Boise HS) was 22nd in her first race of the year with a time of 17:11. Senior Greta Jenkins (Palmer, Alaska/Colony HS) was 25th, posting a time of 17:30. Freshman Rana Kraftson (Bayport, Minn./Stillwater HS) finished 37th overall.
 
Mara McCollor placed first with a time of 15:38. Michigan Tech's Sarah Gable was the top collegiate finisher with a time of 15:56.

Sunday's action will feature the 10km freestyle races beginning at 9 a.m. (ET).
