csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team cruised to a 78-46 victory over North Central University (Minn.) Wednesday night in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action.
The Scoring
The Saints got on the board first just over two minutes into the game when
Alison Huber (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS (Hibbing CC)) put up a 3-pointer. The teams then traded baskets before the Rams went on a four-point run to capture their first and only lead of the game.
CSS restored their advantage after
Kaylee Kennedy (Littlefork, Minn./Littlefork-Big Falls HS) and Huber added a lay-up and jump shot, respectively. The Saints would then hold onto their lead for the rest of the game. CSS was able to increase its lead to 14-8 by the end of the quarter.
The Saints picked up where they left off in the first, going on a nine-point run to earn a 23-8 lead in the second quarter. CSS would hold a double-figure lead for the rest of the game. The Saints headed into halftime with a 21-point lead.
The Saints led by at least 21 points the rest of the way and won by their largest margin of the game of 32 with a final of 78-46.
Top Performances for the Saints
Kennedy led the Saints in scoring with 21 points. Huber and
Mariah Pearson (Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) put up 13 and 11 points, respectively. Kennedy also led in steals with four.
Emma Schmidt (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria HS) led CSS in rebounds with seven, while also recording six assists.
Top Performances for the Rams
Allison Bulthuis led the Rams in scoring with nine points. Haleigh Filer led in rebounds with four.
