DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica women's hockey team scored four first-period goals en route to a 6-0 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) victory over St. Norbert College (Wis.) Friday at Mars Lakeview Arena.

Four-Goal First Period
The Saints dominated the first period, recording the majority of their goals in the first 15 minutes of the game and scoring off of two power-play opportunities.

Four minutes in, a penalty was called on the Green Knights for checking. A minute into the power-play, Courtney Bloemke (Nicollet, Minn./Mankato West HS) and Kennedy Houge (Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) assisted to Greta Nundahl (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS). The first power play goal put the Saints on the board first at 1-0.

One minute later, Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) and Taylor Thompson (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) played off of the momentum and assisted to Alexia Klaas (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Minnesota-Duluth)). Klaas' 11th point of the season put CSS up 2-0.

Midway through the period, the second penalty of the game was called on St. Norbert for tripping. With the Saints on another power play, Bloemke strengthened CSS' lead to 3-0, scoring off of a Houge and Nundahl assist with eight minutes left in the period.

The last goal of the period was scored unassisted by Sam Gorecki (Homer Glen, Ill./Providence Catholic (Chicago Fury)). With Gorecki's second goal of the season, St. Scholastica went into the second period leading 4-0.

Second Period
The lone goal scored by the Saints came nine minutes into the period, with Klaas assisting to Anderson, extending the lead to 5-0.

Each team had one power play opportunity, but were unable to score. St. Scholastica's 5-0 lead carried over into the third.

Third Period
St. Scholastica kept the momentum up by recording one last goal in the third. With two minutes to go Paige Forsman (Cokato, Minn./Dassel-Cokato HS) scored, unassisted, to drive the nail in coffin for the 6-0 victory.

Notable Performances
Nundahl led the Saints with five shots on goal. Amber Tilander (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) and Kayla Kasel (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) each recorded three.

Goaltending
CSS goaltender Lori Huseby (Babbitt, Minn./Northeast Range HS) recorded her second shutout of the season by saving 17 of 17 shots on goal. St. Norbert's goaltender Audrey Moore stopped 20 of 26 shots.

The Saints (6-3-1, 5-2-0 NCHA) host the second game of the two-game series against St. Norbert on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Mars Lakeview Arena.
