DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica women's hockey team beat out Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) opponent St. Norbert College (Wis.) 4-1 Saturday afternoon at Mars Lakeview Arena to complete the series sweep.
The Action
The Saints got on the board very quickly in the first period. 16 seconds in,
Taylor Thompson (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) scored with an assist from
Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) to make it 1-0.
A minute later, a penalty was called on St. Scholastica for checking, putting St. Norbert on a power-play opportunity. The penalty was about to expire when the Green Knights scored, tying up the game at 1-1.
The tie didn't last for long, as St. Scholastica's
Amber Tilander (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) scored 30 seconds later with an assist from
Courtney Bloemke (Nicollet, Minn./Mankato West HS). Tilander's fifth goal of the season escalated the score to 2-1 in the Saints favor going into the second period.
In the second period, the Saints pushed through the St. Norbert's defense and scored 10 minutes in.
Kayla Kasel (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) assisted to
Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS), extending St. Scholastica's lead to 3-1.
The last goal of the game came later in the second period. With a little more than five minutes left in the period, Tilander scored her second goal of the game.
Paige Forsman (Cokato, Minn./Dassel-Cokato HS) and Bloemke assisted to push the final tally to 4-1.

Lori Huseby (Babbitt, Minn./Northeast Range HS) played up until the last nine minutes of the game, stopping 21 of 22 shots on goal.
Maddy Benson (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield HS) subbed in for the last nine minutes, saving five of five shots.
St. Norbert goaltender Audrey Moore saved 18 of 22 shots she faced on goal.
