Men’s Hockey to Host a Pair of NCHA Opponents

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team plays host to No. 4 Adrian College (Mich.) and Trine University (Ind.) in a pair of games against NCHA South Division opponents.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-Since letting a late 3-1 lead slip away in the season opener against Aurora University (Ill.) the Saints have gone on a five-game unbeaten streak, going 4-0-1 in that stretch.
-Since that loss the Saints have not trailed in a game, totaling 305 minutes.
-Technically the Saints haven't trailed a second of play this season, all 367 minutes and 14 seconds of play they have either been leading or tied, the only time they have trailed was when Aurora scored the game winning goal in overtime to end the game.
-Jordan Fralich (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School (Bismarck-NAHL)) (1), Carson Rose (Surrey, British Columbia/Elgin Park Secondary (Weyburn-SJHL)) (3), and Parker Weekes (Ketchum, Idaho/Holderness School (Boston Jr. Rangers-EHL)) (1) scored goals in the win over Hamline University on Tuesday.
-Freshman Karl Wright (Cambridge, Mass./Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (Connecticut Nighthawks-USPHL)) recorded his first career point with an assist.
-Sophomore goaltender Nick Trenciansky (Vancouver, British Columbia/Holy Cross Regional HS (Kindersley-SJHL)) improved to 4-0-1 on the year making a career-high 38 saves.
-Trenciansky leads all NCHA goaltenders with a .956 save percentage (Fifth in Div. III) and ranks second with a 1.38 goals-against-average (11th in Div. III).
-Carson Rose (Surrey, British Columbia/Elgin Park Secondary (Weyburn-SJHL)) leads the Saints in goals, with three, and points with five.
-Sam Fuss (Edina, Minn./Edina HS (Minot-NAHL)) and Cole Golka (Ardrossan, Alberta/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (Dryden Ice Dogs-SIJHL)) both have four points.
-Golka is two points shy of 50 for his career.
-The Saints have out-scored opponents 6-0 in the first period and have scored first in all six games.
-Over the last five seasons the Saints have gone 9-26-5 against ranked opponents.
 
What You Need to Know about Adrian:
Record: 8-2-0, 5-1-0 NCHA
-The Bulldogs come into Friday's matchup ranked fourth in the USCHO.com Division III poll, and lead the NCHA's south division with 10 points
-The Bulldogs are 4-1 in their last five games.
-Adrian is 3-1 on the road this season and 12-4 dating back to last season.
-Bryan Yim leads the Bulldogs with 10 goals and 14 points on the season.
-Trevor Boyd, Matt McNair, and Bryce Van Horn each have four goals and second on the team.
-Cory Dunn leads the team in assists with 10 and is second on the team with 13 points.
-Kevin Entmaa has played a 598 minutes in net for the Bulldogs picking up the 8-2 record with a 1.91 GAA and a .914 save percentage.
-The Bulldogs are outscoring opponents 2-to-1 and have a +8 rating in the first period, and a +14 in the third.
-Adrian is 5-0-0 this season when leading after any period.
-Adrian's power play is sixth in NCAA Division III working at a 30.4 percent clip.

Series History: The two teams were 1-1-2 in the first four meetings, since then Adrian has gone on a nine-game winning streak against the Saints. The Bulldogs are 3-0-1 all-time at Mars Lakeview Arena.
 
What You Need to Know about Trine:
Record: 2-5-1, 2-4-0 NCHA
-Trine comes into the weekend fourth in the NCHA south division with four points
-The Thunder will travel to Ashland Friday to take on Northland College before taking on the Saints Saturday.
-The Thunder are 2-3 in their last five games.
-Trine is 0-2-1 on the road to begin the season 3-10-1 in their programs short history.
-Garrett Hallford leads the Thunder with five goals and nine points on the season.
-Blake Robertson and Corey Robertson each have three goals.
-Brett Young has played a 480 minutes in net for the Thunder recording a 2-5-1 record with a 3.25 GAA and a .913 save percentage.
-Trine outscores opponents 5-3 in the first period, but in the second and third period they get outscored by 11 goals combined.
-Trine is 1-4-0 when trailing in any period.
 
Series Record: Tied 0-0-1 (Last Meeting: 4-4 TIE – 12/2/2017)
 
Series History: The teams have only met one time in and it resulted in a 4-4 tie in Angola, Indiana last season.
 
Looking Ahead: The Saints will go out of conference next weekend beginning with a trip to Gustavus Adolphus College on Friday.
